To be selected this scholarship period is especially noteworthy as we again had a record number of applicants. In the past, we have usually had about 20-40 applications. Last year, we had 95 and this year we had 85 applications!
There were so many worthy applicants that we wanted to give scholarships and we had a very difficult time choosing this year’s winners. Letters explaining why applicants needed the scholarships had equal weight to grades. Letters of reference also were a determining factor in selecting scholarships recipients.
Two of this year’s winners had applied last year and reapplied this year to see if their second time would be the lucky one – and it was! We invite all 2011 applicants to resubmit their applicants with updated transcripts and application forms (available on our website) in 2012.
Our next scholarship deadline is June 30, 2012.
