Forsyth Medical Center
Forsyth Medical Center, a 961- bed, not- for-profit regional medical center is located in Winston Salem. The hospital complex which includes nearby Medical Park Hospital is one of the largest and best equipped in the state. The two facilities combined perform around 56,000 surgical procedures each year and offer a full range of surgical care including expertise in the latest minimally invasive techniques.

National distinctions earned by Forsyth Medical Center include Magnet Status, a ranking denoting the highest level of nursing care and shared with around 150 hospitals in America. Novant Health is the only health system in the county to twice (2006 & 2011) receive the President’s Award from Professional Research Consultants, a national recognized research company. Forsyth’s centers of excellence include the following:
Derrick L. Davis Forsyth Regional Cancer Center is one of the leading cancer centers in North Carolina and has access to more than 100 national research trials.

Diabetes and Nutrition Services assists people with diabetes management and nutrition education and offers programs recognized by the American Diabetes Association.

Emergency Services include a 55,000 square foot emergency department - the largest in the state – capable of treating up to 110,000 patients a year.

Forsyth Cardiac and Vascular Center performs more open heart and invasive cardiology procedures annually than any other cardiac center in our region. The Center has the Society of Thoracic Surgeon’s 3-star rating representing the highest quality rating for heart surgery as well the Chest Pain Society’s certification as a chest pain center.

Forsyth Rehabilitation Center provides comprehensive rehabilitation programs for both in-patient and out-patients, helping those patients regain independence lost to disease, injury, or surgery at a variety of North Carolina locations.

Forsyth Regional Orthopedic Center has been recognized as one of the 100 best performing hospitals for orthopaedic services by a study by the HCIA-Sachs Institute. The Center’s Hip and Knee Replacement Program was the first in the Carolinas to be certified by the Joint Commission.

Forsyth Stroke and Neurosciences Center brings together nationally recognized neurocritical care intensivists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, neurointerventional radiologists, rehabilitation specialists and specially trained nurses dedicated to diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries of the brain and spine.

Sara Lee Center for Women’s Health provides individualized care to women of all ages and includes the largest birthing center in the Piedmont Region and the second largest in North Carolina.

Medical Park Hospital
This 22-bed, not- for- profit hospital specializes in elective inpatient and outpatient surgery. This small facility with a highly experience staff, has the technology of larger hospitals allowing it to focus on providing high quality, cost-effective surgeries.

Kernersville Medical Center
This 46-bed new facility which opened in April 2011 is located on 70 acres near the Forsyth/Guilford County border and Interstate 40. Both acute and intensive care is provided as well as emergency, surgical, laboratory, pharmacy, radiology services and respiratory and physical therapy.

Thomasville Medical Center
This 148-bed, not- for- profit hospital serving Davidson County provides a full continuum of acute care, outpatient services, community wellness, and home health services. Our affiliated physician practices in Thomasville offer family medicine and urgent care, along with specialties such as cardiology, ear, nose and throat, cancer treatment and orthopedics.

Outpatient and Extended Care Services

Forsyth Medical Center/Novant Health in the Piedmont Triad employs physicians and their staffs to operate community clinic locations. The hospital also employs physicians who serve as hospitalists, implementing treatment plans for hospitalized patients of primary care physicians. The Medical Center's outpatient facilities include rehabilitation and surgery centers as well as centers for long-term care of transitional patients.


FINANCIAL AID PROGRAMS AVAILABLE FOR HEALTHCARE STUDENTS

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement, leadership ability, and extracurricular involvement. Upon graduation, the student is expected to work at Forsyth Medical Center for a specified agreed upon time. Scholarships vary from year to year. Those listed are as of January, 2011.

Pharmacy:
$10,000 per year – up to $30,000 for 3 years (P2-P4) in return for joining our team for one year per each $10,000 scholarship
Physical Therapy:
We offer a $15,000 Physical Therapist Scholars Award to new graduate PTs that begin their physical therapy career at Forsyth Medical Center within 12 months or less from graduation from an accredited PT program.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

For eight weeks during the summer, teens from the ages of 14 to 18 can participate in Forsyth Medical Center's Junior Volunteer Program.
